Dance
For seven years, I was deeply immersed in photographing dancers as the exclusive studio photographer for a ballet and contemporary dance school in Austin. I learned to understand the nuance of dance technique and anticipate the smallest details—the arc of a grande jeté , the delicate articulation of fingers at the end of a port de bras — like a whispered punctuation, and the dancer’s focus settling in at the barre.
Through my lens, I strive to capture these fleeting details, honoring not just the shapes and lines, but the invisible poetry that live between each step. I hope to continue this aspect of my work with dance companies in Northern Virginia, and extend my services to theater companies as well.
